"You shall live in booths for seven days, all who are native Israelites …" (Leviticus 23:42). A makeshift construction with a roof of branches, this Sukkah or booth is used for the entire duration of the festival of Sukkot. The décor is traditional and at the same time shows a perfect assimilation of local crafts.

Its walls are decorated with picturesque views of an Austrian village, a shield inscribed with the first few words of the Decalogue and a floral decoration evoking the agricultural significance of the festival. The main panel depicts Jerusalem, in a style common from the second half of the 19th century, showing the walls, the hills, the Dome of the Rock, the El Aqsa Mosque and, in the centre, the Wailing Wall.
