Our Funeral/Sarah’s Funeral is a 365-day book of tales, crammed with words, pastel, charcoal, felt-tip pen and passion.
It is the result of a year of intense activity prompted by the artist’s reflection on funerary art and grieving, which led to the imperious necessity to go back over a buried story and to at last listen to its ghosts and give them a sepulcher.
The book took shape day by day, “on its own, in a state of daydream.” It is haunted by the obsessive presence of a girl, Sarah, whose “story is in fact a multitude of stories, whose name is like a tattoo, a sign,” – and also a very moving echo of Charlotte Salomon’s work.
Then the book became a sculpture; a bramble bush, a whirlwind of words torn from it came and hugged it, “protected it,”.
The video-book was produced by Fearless Productions.
